Abstract

Anxiety in children is a multifaceted phenomenon significantly influenced by the emotional security provided within the coparenting system. Coparenting, defined as the dynamics and collaboration between parents in raising their children, plays a crucial role in shaping and maintaining the child’s emotional security. This study examines the mediating role of anxiety between child emotional security and expressed coparenting, highlighting the importance of a positive coparenting relationship for healthy emotional development. The theory of emotional security suggests that children repeatedly exposed to parental conflicts develop increased sensitivity to these conflicts, affecting their behavioral and physiological responses. Studies support bidirectional associations between coparenting difficulties and elevated levels of anxiety in children, underscoring the significant impact of coparenting dynamics on child behavior and highlighting the need for effective conflict management strategies in coparenting relationships.
