Abstract

The identification, inventory, and documentation of medicinal plant diversity are essential prerequisites for the sustainable use and conservation of natural resources. This study presents the results of research focused on identifying and assessing the medicinal potential of certain wild-growing species from the Lamiaceae family, complementing preliminary data on their valorization and conservation prospects. Species belonging to the genera Ajuga, Thymus, Salvia, Stachys, Teucrium, Origanum, Lamium, Leonurus, Marrubium, Scutellaria, and Mentha were identified and characterized. The most commonly used species are described, including vernacular names, therapeutic effects, traditional uses, and methods of administration. Based on the ethnobotanical study, Lamiaceae species that have been and continue to be used in traditional medicine are highlighted.
