Abstract

The concept of resilience in the medical system took shape in the post-pandemic period and is considered an important factor in reducing the risk of burnout and increasing the quality of services provided. An integrative review of the literature on the resilience of medical personnel was conducted, with the aim of analyzing the concept of resilience, its characteristics and the predictive factors of the resilience of medical personnel with secondary education. Using PubMed, Google Academic, HINARI search engines and by examining publications in the National Repository, 2.378 relevant publications were identified. Of these, 29 publications were considered relevant and were analyzed. The authors define resilience as a useful construct for understanding the factors and processes that help people recover from various adversities, emphasizing internal individual values and resources, as well as environmental ones, that facilitate the ability to adapt and 'bounce back' after adversity. The factors that influence the resilience of nurses are grouped into three broad categories: a) individual or personal (age, gender, etc.); b) environmental (length of employment, remuneration, human resource endowment, etc.); c) individual development (level of professional training, self-actualization, etc.). Resilience is a process of individual development, which involves the activation of resources in order to cope with adversity.
