The project proposed by the Institute of Chemistry of the State University of Moldova, in collaboration with L.L.C. “METIOLIS” and L.L.C. “IZODROMGAZ,” aims to establish a specialized department for evaluating and optimizing wastewater treatment systems in Moldova. The initiative introduces advanced solutions aligned with international standards to enhance the efficiency of treatment plants. The developed technology simultaneously integrates nitrification and denitrification processes based on microbial clusters, reducing the biogenic impact and mitigating eutrophication. Applicable for both new and existing treatment plants, this innovative biological treatment technology uses biofilm cocoon carriers to increase microbial biomass concentration, utilizing internal carbon sources without external inputs. Successfully implemented at the Causeni WWTP, the project leverages advanced scientific equipment for precise research, offering competitive advantages to private sector partners. Activities include analyzing wastewater parameters, assessing technical system conditions, improving infrastructure, and protecting intellectual property. Expected outcomes include improved environmental quality, energy savings, and job creation, demonstrating the sustainability and socio-economic benefits of advanced research in wastewater treatment.
