Abstract

The developed study analyzes the calculated values of thermo-hygrometric index (THI) from 5 meteorological stations in the Southern Region of the Republic of Moldova for the period 1981-2020. Based on meteorological data from July 2024, calculations of THI for diurnal and hourly periods were performed for the Cahul meteorological station. Reference meteorological data (temperature, air humidity) and calculated values of the THI index are displayed through graphical models and suggestive tables. The cartographic models showing the spatial distribution of the index were obtained by the Inverse Distance Weighted (IDW) interpolation method in the free and open source specialized program QGIS. The obtained results highlight the areas and variability of bioclimate types specific for the Southern Region of the Republic of Moldova.
