Metamorphoses of the landscape in the artwork of artist Timotei Bătrânu

Abstract

The work of Timotei Bătrânu, an artist who debuted in the fine arts in the Republic of Moldova in the early 1970s, fully represents the plastic aspirations of a generation of painters who, through their work, have consistently continued the path of renewal and updating the pictorial approach started in the previous decade by notorious professionals of the visual arts. Marked by three stages in its evolution, the artist's work has captured the essence of the universal cultural traditions of Impressionist, Post-Impressionist and Post-Avangardist inspiration. The cultural paradigms of these artistic trends, which have favored the development of painting in the twentieth century, have found a fruitful fulfillment in the creation of Timotei Bătrânu thanks to the original stylistic symbioses with his artistic aspirations directed towards the valorization of plastic landmarks aesthetically fulfilled in the local cultural universe and in the geographical area in which he created his works.
