Abstract

As cinematography was gaining momentum in the mid 20th century, historians and sociologists started to question the rigid narrative of classic textbooks, as the pace of social change accelerated and old learning tools proved insufficient. In the Republic of Moldova, documentary film has been validated as a trustworthy resource for education relatively late, yet many valuable works were created more than half a century ago. With the opening to the European path, new opportunities arose for the documentary film to establish itself as a trustful means of learning and teaching. This article aims to identify the possibilities and challenges of documentary in its attempt to establish itself as a contemporary learning method.
